Bangladesh GDP growth climbs to 4.60pc in final quarter

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics data show GDP growth in the fourth and final quarter (April-June) of 2025-26 rose to 4.60 percent, up from 2.05 percent in the same quarter a year earlier.

Bangladesh's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.60 percent in the fourth and final quarter (April-June) of the 2025-26 fiscal year, according to the latest figures from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

In the same quarter of the previous 2024-25 fiscal year the growth rate was 2.05 percent, so growth in the closing quarter of the year that has just ended rose sharply by comparison.

BBS data put the country's GDP at current prices in the fourth quarter of 2025-26 at Tk 16,11,674 crore, against Tk 14,38,527 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

The report said GDP growth in the first three quarters of 2025-26 stood at 4.96 percent, 3.03 percent and 2.22 percent respectively, so the pace of growth picked up again by the final quarter.

GDP is measured by combining output from agriculture, industry and services, so the quarterly growth picture also points to the state of farm production and the rural economy, which matters for farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs.
